Teresa O. Beeker is a native of the Carolinas and, after working as a contracts, licensing and patent attorney for 21 years in Philadelphia, she is returning back to her homeland. Teresa was a Morehead Scholar and president of her sorority at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she earned her B.S. in Biology. She then received a special fellowship with the National Cancer Institute to study breast and colon cancer at the National Institutes of Health, and also conducted AIDS research. She then received two Masters degrees, one in Biochemistry and one in Molecular Biology from the University of Florida where she specialized in neuro-biochemistry, before relocating to Philadelphia. She graduated with honors from Temple University School of Law and became a patent attorney, representing a number of pharmaceutical and chemical companies ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
She is married to Ed, a retired military officer, a professor at West Point as well as at Wofford College and also a highly decorated artillery officer. She has two teenage children. She enjoys a number of outdoor activities in the upstate region such as waterfall hikes, kayaking and fishing in the lakes of Spartanburg and Greenville Counties. She also enjoys sewing, quilting, knitting and playing the piano. She is proficient in German and Spanish
